Apple pay doesn't work

Hello, gurus

Can you, please, help me sort out problems with my iPhone 8’s Apple pay. The problem is - it doesn't work.

What should I check at the very first? Where is nfc module located? I tried to search, but different things - from the wireless charging anthenna up to camera area. Can someone, please, explain?

Did you setup your credit card correctly?

Did you program TouchID for the finger you want to use? Erase the recorded finger print and setup again.

Yes, all the adjustment done and it's 100% correct

I think something wrong with hardware

Apple Pay has many parts to it; setting up an Apple ID, linking a credit card to it, registering a fingerprint, enabling it on the phone, the NFC antenna, and more. What exactly do you mean by "does not work"? Be specific about what does or does not happen as part of the Apple Pay experience.

So, all the prerequisites done (fingerprint setup, credit card entred)

If I double click home button my card appears

But when I truing to interact with reader - nothing happens

Need to see if it's an issue specifically with Apple Pay or with your phone's NFC system in general. There are free apps that allow your iPhone to read NFC tags. Download one of them and visit a store that has NFC tags on their products and see if you can read them. If you can, then it's an Apple Pay-specific issue. If it's not, it's an NFC system issue.

The NFC logic is part of the secure enclave within the iPhone’s logic board. I would bring the phone into an Apple Store or authorized service center as you’ll need a new logic board.

The purple marked chip is the NXP 80V18 secure NFC module. The chrome screw marked here connects the signal bus bar to the antenna within the case.

I think this screw is missing, I will check during the day and get back to you with the results.

Can you clarify one more thing - what is the all pieces of the nfc system? This microchip, this screw, anthenna itself, case (should be conductive).

Can you, please, share the link to all of it?

There is only three pieces involved in the radio side as I've outlined here.

Can confirm, was missing that screw after housing replacement. Now everything work

Hi i have a also problem with Apple Pay. After board swap i cannot add card to apple pay. It throws error that card cannot be added try again later or contact issuer. My question is can it be related to board screw to antenna somehow? or it's faulty chip?

Swapping logic boards won't work as the NFC chip still has the original phones ID and that users data (which is encrypted).

door

the only thing what was actually swapped/upgraded is NAND Flash memory chip. all other is original. Shouldn't be caused by loose NFC antena connection?

door

@wjencik Did you forget to put the screw in? I would check, more likely you broke the encryption.

The NFC uses the encryption key that was shared across the other chips of your logic board. Apple uses a serpentine encryption method which makes alterations of chips or poking around personal data impossible. So when you altered the NAND you broke the chain!
