MacBook care for further times?

Hi there, so I bought this device in feb 2018 and I ditched the extended warranty which was due this year in February due to budget issues, my machine usage is pretty basic mostly documents and web and I use my device on stands for viewing angle comfort, my laptop is working fine and shows no signs of damage but i’m worried when I heard the news that models 2016 and later are prone to this stage light effect after some use.

so I am asking this community what preventive measures should I take to avoid the damage in future, surely I know pretty basic stuff like not spilling liquid on keyboard etc but any suggestions are welcome, there’s no shell case on my laptop it has just a clear skin and nothing else.

Give these vids a view:

The bottomline here is how far you bend the display back. Try not to extend it beyond 90 degrees back as the farther you bend it back will stress the cable.

You also have a second issue which is the keyboard I would recommend getting a keyboard skin to help protect it.

thanks, man I'm avoiding stands from now also about the angle 95 or 100 is allowed?

Stands? Not following you on that. In my world a laptop sits on a desk or your lap ;-}

Its not a question of what is allowed its what prevents the tension on the cable. So going all the way back 170 degrees would really stress the cable Straight up 90 is the most safe and still a useable angle. Anything in-between is a risk! As the cable ages it will get brittle so you don't want to press your luck.

By stands I meant the one made to provide a comfortable viewing angle something like a raindrsign laptop stands, I mostly use this while editing documents, now due to this cable situation I guess it might harm the cable.
