How to find issue of slow charging and fast discharging?

Hello! I just bought used, damaged iPhone 6s.

First I replaced battery for branded Apple - and phone wake up.

Next, I replaced flex cable with charging port and jack, because jack was not working - now it works.

Now everything is good except… very slow charging, and fast discharging. I’m using good quality Mcdodo cable, tried with every possible chargers and also other cables.

Can you tell me what could be faulty? Best advice would be, what should I measure to localize the issue. Any iPhone schematics source? Can it be just Tristar power management chip?

Please help :)

You probably bought a used battery that isn’t good anymore.

If you feel confident that your replacement parts are good quality and fully functional, then the next step is to look at the charging circuit on the logic board. That consists of the Tristar & Tigris IC and the supporting components. The issue here is that you have a phone with unknown history. That’s good and bad I guess. It is likely that the previous owner used a low quality charger and damaged the Tristar IC.

We can’t share schematics here but they are easily findable, *cough, gsm forum, cough*. Also, Blackfish, of ZXW fame is now free without a dongle so you can access the schematics that way. As for boardview software, there is the new Phoneboard which is free as well.

That's only for the Mac version. The PC version is still "free".

Minho - thank you for the nice tips :)

Now, I just checked voltage on battery connector and it's 0.63V…….

That's low, you should see around 3 - 3.7 volts

I would take the time to look through Jessa’s YouTube Vids on iPad Rehab.

I suspect you might have some corrosion damage or a bad cap as this sounds like a sort condition.

I spoke with previous (first) owner, and phone was working quite properly, but some day it stops charging, and he forget about the phone for some time. I don't know it's about the corrosion, but I will take a look :)

Have you made sure the battery is to its full functioning capacity??? To this go to settings on your phone and click on “battery” once there click on “battery health” your battery should read like this (look at the picture) if it says anything else you more than likely bought a faulty battery and may need a new one. Hope this helps.
