Solid Black line on copy

  1. How do I eliminate a solid black line down the right side of a copy that only occurs when I use the paper feeder to make copies on my HP Officejet Pro 8615 printer/scanner/copier??

Hi @flgallows ,

Try cleaning the scanner glass under the ADF.

Any speck of dirt or grime on the scanner glass will create a solid line as it is between the scanner sensor and the document being copied.

Here’s an image taken from p.34 of the user manual showing how to access the scanner glass and where and how to clean under the ADF.

how do I clean the ADF glass strip underneath? It has a cloudy film on it.

Use a clean lint free cloth (microfibre cloth works well) slightly dampened (not dripping wet just damp) with clean water and rub gently.

If it won't come off with water then use Ispropyl alcohol 99% (available at electronics parts stores) and dampen the cloth with that.

Disconnect the power from the printer when doing this as you don't water or any liquid from entering the machine with the power connected. Even with the power disconnected it can cause problems so use only a slightly damp cloth.
