Replacing the lcd with a different one.

I have a TI-84 Plus CE-T With fancy broaken LCD rainbow colors on the screen. I took it apart and after inspecting the LCD, I couldn’t find any part number markings that gave me any results on searx, aliexpress or ebay. I figured that this screen is probably using a somewhat standard protocol and pinout. Therefore I was wondering if I might be able to replace it with a simularely specced lcd from aliexpress with the same amount of pins on the connector. I ended up finding this part

The connector looks right and has the right amound of pins allthough it is upside down and on the wrong side, I could probably just fold the flat flex connector though. Does anybody how likely it would be for something like this to work

Hi, a screen replacement is likely to work, however your part seems to be incorrect. The display is a GiantPlus GPM1421C0 the latest display is a GPM1607A1 fortunately, it doesn’t matter which one you get since they are interchangeable. Unfortunately, we have no idea where you could buy one, we believe TI sources them directly. :(

If you want to be sure you’re getting the correct display, I would suggest buying a broken TI 84 Plus CE(-t) that still has a working display and salvage the display out of that. Make sure not to buy a TI 84 Plus CSE since the display is NOT compatible with the TI 84 Plus CE(-t).

Just out of curiosity, does RAM resetting or reinstalling the OS help fix your display? Does this answer on helping repair an LCD and running the display self test help ( Broken pixels came back on my ti 84 plus ce LCD, can this be fixed? )? Good luck with your repair!

I am sadly talking about something which is definately not a software problem, It really looks exactly like what you would see on a broaken lcd, and i can even see the chemicals floating through the screen when lifting the lcd off of the backlight. I don't really feel like buying a broaken TI-84 because I already have a good calculator and I got this one from my sister and I tought it would be fun to try to fix it but anything more than $10 would a bit too much when I don't have any actual use for the calculator. It just seems like a fun experiment to get one fo these aliexpress displays and see if it would work and I was wondering if anybody else has tried something like this in the past so I wouldn't just be throwing away money.

@tt_392 Perhaps you can get a better answer if you post on a calculator forum such as Cemetech.net or TIPlanet.org . There are quite a few calculator enthusiasts out there who might be able to tell you what other displays might be compatible.
