MacBook Air 13" A1369 I/O board compatibility

I’m in need of a new I/O board for my Late 2010 MacBook Air A1369.

It seems to be difficult to find boards for this model. I was wondering if the I/O board for the later 2011 A1369 MacBook Air would work. They seem to be the same in every way but I was wondering if someone could give me conformation on compatibility?

Find on the bottom of your board its printed reference number, I’m not 100% sure but for your model should be the 820-2861-A. That will be the I/O board you need for your MBA without possibilities of mistake, it doesn’t really matter the year it was built.

Sometimes you need to dig a bit deeper! So lets look into the part a bit.

Here’s the two parts from IFIXIT:

We can see the ‘10 board is more expensive than the ‘11 model. Which I’m thinking is whats at the root of the argument as other parts sites also show the older part is more expensive. So why is the older part more? Just looking at the two they do look exactly the same but are they?

The only difference I see is the Cirrus DAC chip is a different package between the boards. I’m suspecting this is the reason for the price difference.

So should you go with the newer part? I personally would stick with the correct part, but its worth the gamble!
