Why is my Mac saying " There is no available room to Duplicate?

I can  load pictures from my camera onto my A1103 Apple, but I can not load them onto a USB Device, A sheet pops un stating, “There is no available room to Duplicate”

I have checked the hard drive and only 15 GB has been used,

The total size of the pictures file is 516GB, so I think that there should be adequate room.

 I thought that it could be  the fault of an interrupted Hard Drive

This is likely a hard drive issue if there is adequate storage available. Try a new Hard Drive.

Better last night! I reformatted my USB for Mac and PC, then I condensed 12 video files to Zip, which I had previously omitted and that seems to have given me the extra hard drive room and then duplicating and copying was made possible.

Go under the Apple in the upper left hand corner to “about this Mac”. Tell us what is says about your hard drive. size, available, space, used space

Then tell us what the USB device shows about space.

@ac2sde

this “can  load pictures from my camera onto my A1103 Apple, but I can not load them onto a USB Device” sounds like an issue with the USB device and not the HDD. Try a different USB device.
