TouchID won't work after screen replacement

Hey guys I was repairing a friends iPhone 6 Plus screen and while removing the LCD shield that has the home button link cable running through it, I pierced that cable and the home button/touchID didn’t work. So I ordered a new LCD backplate with a cable pre-installed and just put the new shield on today.

After installing the new shield, the home button works but the TouchID does not. It doesn’t say anything like “TouchID not recognized” It just doesn’t do anything when you try to set up a new finger print. Any fix to this?

Thanks

@northsaad Are you aware that when you replace an iPhone’s home button that Touch ID will no longer function? That may be the issue you may be running into if you are not aware of the above.

@ajcooke01 Yes, but I did not replace the home button because that works fine. I replaced the home button link cable that runs along the LCD shield.

Do a thorough visual inspection of the new Link Flex (corners and connectors on either end) and also look at the Home Button itself as you may have damaged that as well. It really doesn’t take much to make the Touch ID fail. Use a jewelers loupe to get a really close look.

If everything looks good, you may have a defective Link flex. Sometimes the issue can also be on the soldered connections for the connector on the flex.
