High ms only on this PC

Hello guys.

I just build a new PC for a friend and I’ve noticed a problem. When I play offline games everything is Perfect, but when I play an online game ms are getting crazy. I thought at first that the problem was with the internet connection but later I tried with another pc to play the same game and I had 21ms instead of 300ms I had with the new PC. What can be the problem with the new PC and gets so high ms?

Ethernet? Or wifi? I am going to guess Ethernet as the B450M does not come with wifi. I have the mono, nice motherboard. The higher ms can be nothing else but connection speeds(Not necessarily your internet but how its being delivered to your pc), you need to test more variables. Maybe a different ethernet cable, plug it in a different port. Go to your router settings, disable wifi for a moment and see how fast that PC works then, as you will be connected through an ethernet cable.

My PC connection speeds are pretty good but at times it hits what you are receiving even when I am the only one on the internet. So I turn off my wifi in the router settings, and it fixes it instantly. Other devices even if you don't think it is doing so may be taking up the internet.

The problem is that in the same network , with the same router , with the same cable other computer works perfectly.

What is the Ethernet board or are you using the on-board port? Are they the same between the systems and what are the settings are they the same?

Hmm. Test your internet connection on speedtest.net, on both systems. It will test your ms, download, and upload. Tell me the results between the two. Are you sure it couldn't of been some fluke?

Maybe your router prioritizes your pc to a very low state. Try to log in your router and search for the QOS and set your pc to high priority. Or maybe try restarting the router before you try this.

I doubt Savvas altered his router from the default as setting up QOS is not a trivial setup.

But, you do raise one other possibility and thats the systems IP address. The DHCP/DNS connections may not be set correctly on the router so the DHCP address lease maybe using the wrong default gateway address. So the connection is not stable. From a CMD line do a IPConfig so you can see the config info on both systems are they using the same subnet (different node address)? Are the rest of the settings the same?
