Why is water leaking through wand when brewing?

My DeLonghi is not working properly after some electricity problem at home. Whenever I choose the setting to “heat and prepare” water starts steaming on the wand. Furthermore, when I choose the brewing option the wand starts leaking a lot of water and there is no water running on the brewing component of the machine. Anyone have any idea if this is fixable or do I need a new machine?
