iPhone 6 plus screen cuts to black when trying to enter recovery mode,

Hey, i’m having an issue with my iPhone 6 plus, i’m trying to boot it into recovery so I can reset the phone because the touch screen isn’t fully working, however when I plug my powered off phone to my Mac whilst holding the home button it shows the apple logo then just cuts off and doesn’t respond again until I force reboot with the home and lock buttons.

not 100% sure what the problem is, the phone does turn on properly but I cannot type my password because portions of the screen have stopped working, I have also replaced the screen a couple of times and the touch fault still persists across components, have also tried to enter DFU mode however it does the same thing as mentioned before,

If anyone has any idea what this could be, help would be very appreciated.

Thankyou.

When you mean by touch screen not fully working is it ghost touching, showing a grey horizontal bar at the top of the screen or touch completely dies intermittently?

If that is the case and you already tried multiple screens, the touch IC chip needs to be replaced (or reballed and put back on but requires more effort) with the M1 Jumper fix included which permanently fixes the weak connection of the solder pad between the logic board and the touch IC itself.

To replace that touch IC chip it requires microsoldering which means this is not a DIY fix for the average person.

You can take the phone to a reputable repair shop (preferably one that has a no-fix no-fee model) that does board-level repairs for iPhones and they should be able to fix it for you.

When you take it to a repair shop, make sure you mention the M1 jumper fix for touch IC. If they don’t know what that is, look for another repair shop that does.

Hey Ben,

I'm fairly sure its not touch disease, the fault is just a portion of the screen down the left side won't respond at all, I have double checked the motherboard connector and the surrounding resistors and it looks like there is no damage or other indicator to why the touch doesn't work.

I work in a RMA department and this is the first time I have encountered this issue. I know its a long shot but was hoping that restoring the firmware through iTunes would help as the problem only happened the day after I updated to iOS 12. I know it may not be linked to the issue but would like to try resetting it before getting any BGA work done on the board.
