LG wt1501cw won't agitate

My LG top loader recently started having an issue. When I start a wash cycle, it does the load sensing, fills with water normally, then instead of starting to agitate back and forth the whole drum slowly rotates in one direction. It will continue to do this, and the timer never gets shorter. The spin function works fine on it's own. During load sensing the agitator moves in both directions, and I've taken everything underneath apart short of opening the bearing housing so I don't think it's the clutch or coupling. What could be causing this?

I have tried to enter test mode by holding down the water plus and spin button and hitting the power button, but it just turns on normally. If somebody could explain how to get test mode working I that may help as well.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Yes . Mine did the say . I had to check the wires from inlet valve from the red connector . Under the tap a blue wore was cut in half and you could not see it .

Mine did same thing and I found a penny stuck in the bottom problem fixed after I took the agitator off.

#1 If the washer won'agitate the drive block might be worn out or broken. The drive block connects the washer transmission to the agitator, if it's worn out the transmission shaft will still move back and forth but the agitator will either stay still or move slightly.

#2 If the washing machine will not agitate correctly the washplate might be damaged and stripped off the drive shaft. The agitator can be removed to check out the washplate connection point.

The agitator will move, it works correctly when it rotates back and forth on it's own during the load sensing step. I have also checked the wash plate, it is not stripped at all. It's just during the wash cycle that there are problems. The drum and agitator rotate together, only in one direction, and at a slow pace. The agitator never switches directions. Maybe this is an electrical issue?

Check wiring from inlet valve red connecter , 2 blue wires coming out . One was torn under the tape and spliced it back together and works great !

ours the bottom agitator plate comes off! Can not get it to wash.

I took most of it apart and put it back together making sure there was nothing wrapped around the agitator, and it didn't seem to help. I ran the cleaning cycle with bleach instead of normal detergent, with the extra water mode. Started to magically work after that.

Cool, thanks. And it’s worked ever since? I’ll give that a shot tonight. Thing is only 2 years old so kind of !#^&@@.

I tried this (ran the tub clean cycle with bleach instead of detergent) when my washer made noises during agitating during the wash and rinse cycles....it seemed to completely take care of the problem! Thanks tatumj96 for the tip!

I have to add that it took care of the problem as long as I only use the Bulky cycle or the Delicates cycle, with the soil level set at Light. If I use other settings, the noise comes back.

Turns out that the spines in my pulsator assembly are stripped because they made it out of cheap plastic, big surprise. Just have to replace the assembly. $50 to $75 part.

Mine does same thing had less than a year

Same problem here, started doing it after starting a load when the water was shut off and then an error code for no water. Water tank s turned back on but the washer stalls out during the wash cycle at 52 minutes.. it is giving a faint chiming sound as if something is wrong but there are no error codes. It spins and drains just fine, almost seems like it’s a computer issue. Only two years old and shouldn’t be a mechanical issue at this point, I would think??

Same issue with ours jamesmatalik. Did you find a solution for the problem?

Check wires coming from red connector on inlet valve . 2 blue wires coming from the connector . One was cut under the tape so I could not see or find it until I recover tape . Could be anywhere on that blue wore . Spliced it back together and now it agitates again .
