When I turn my Roomba on, it doesn't go forward anymore.

Instead of going forward it spins around for a while and then starts to beep. Does anyone know how to fix this or what is causing it?

If it's the "9 beep error code" circle of death dance (most common), you can fix it yourself with a soldering iron and $4 in parts. See this link for all the details:

What model of Roomba do you have? If you have a 500series you can go to http://www.eesolutions.ca to get a repair kit. It only costs $20 and it works.

I fixed my Roomba which had the same problem. I ordered the repair kit offered by eesolutions(link listed above) and fixed it without too much difficulty. Hope this helps.

Joey111 you did not tell us how many times your Roomba beeped. It does sound like a stuck bumper. You can try this first

1. Move Roomba away from any obstructions.

2. Press the bumper to feel for inconsistencies.

3. Clean the bumper from underneath using canned air or q-tips.

My Roomba had the 9 beep code. I read these answers. I removed the bottom cover to take a look. Everything was covered in dust. Cleaned it very well. Replaced the cover. The Roomba ran normally. Don't know if it will continue working, but it is less work than getting out a soldering iron. Try this first.

You can try iFixRobot who repairs the bumper sensors and the circle dance problem.

This is know as the "circle of death 9 beep error" or "circle death spiral" The cliff/bumper sensors have failed and need to be replaced. Otherwise, it will never work again. It will only go it circles. If you have a soldering iron and are not afraid of repairs, you can get the sensors for under $10 and replace the sensors.

Here is a youtube video to diagnoise and repair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lYBLLCY...

Here is a repair place that also sells repair kits: http://www.eesolutions.ca/

The sensors themselves are available on eBay and possibly other places. Just google "Roomba circle of death repair"

I did not repair mine. I gave it away to someone who is good at repairs and it is working very well.

Agree with the cleaning trial. I disassembled it and blew it out with compressed air. Also cleaned the sensor windows thoroughly, and it was in working order again.
