@tvs this was a comment left to somebody elses question. what make and model is your TV? What have you checked? Do you have access to some basic tools (screwdrivers, multimeter etc.?) Have you checked your remote? Does your TV have a power button that you have tried as well? This sounds like a bad power board but we need more information

Samsung 2008 Model # LN32A33oj1n

Have tried unplugging, holding power button on tv and remote. Shutting down everything including rotor ! Changed batteries in remote. Dune just about everything....go to bed and in am it goes on. Was on this am but won't go on now!

@tvs start off by removing all the inputs. Remove everything like your cablebox, coax, DVD whatever you have conencted. Then unplug your TV. Hold the power button for 30-60 seconds. Then plug your TV back in and see if it comes on (do not connect any inputs) If it does, connect one input like a DVD player and see if it works. If it does not you will have to dig deeper. Unplug your TV and remove the back from it.

Check all the board for obvious damage like leaking or bulging capacitors. Samsung has a habit of using substandard capacitors. Those fail and could be one of the reasons for your TV acting the way it does. Post some pictures of all of your boards with your question. That way we can see what you see. I realize your TV is 10 years old but it may still function with minimal investement. So it would be cheaper to keep yours going that trying to replace it. None of the checks etc. that we are going to suggest on here will cost you anything. If we can narrow it down we can most often also find the parts. Then it will be up to you to determine if you want to spend money on your set.

Hey Dianne,

This is most likely an issue with your antenna. It can be that when you try to connect with you remote the TV doesn’t want to catch the signal and that might be a case why your television doesn’t wants to work. Try to maybe first replace the batteries in the remote or try a different remote and then bring your TV to someone who’s willing to fix the antenna for you!

Good luck!

Do you think it's worth it for a 10 yr old tv?

door

@tvs it won't be the antenna. Your TV does not have a build in antenna so you can't take it anywhere to have that fixed.
