Loses charge fast when not in use and overheats when charging

Hey!

So my phone use to lose its charge fast when in use as well, however I replaced the battery and now it drains much slower. The battery would overheat with my old one, and still does now when on charge, so I use a fan every time I charge my phone with my old and new battery.

Even when I power my phone off overnight with 100% charge, it will drain down to 50%, or if I leave it locked overnight it will be fully gone by the morning.

I have also tried factory resetting the phone and sing different chargers and they have had no effect.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you.

*****Edit*****

Another fault is often when I power off my Phone, and then on again, the date and time will reset. I don’t know if this fault is related to the charging or not.

Thank you!

I would not expect a phone to get real hot when charging. There will be some heat, but excessive heat will damage the battery. I would verify that the charger is specifically for your phone and battery combination. Also, if the new battery is behaving this way and the charger is correct, the battery may be defective. The only other possibility is that the “charging circuit” inside the phone has been damaged somehow. That will take some additional testing to verify though.

Verify that the charger is the right one and update this with your results.

Hi!

Yeah I have been using an official Samsung charger, but I have tried using others to see if it was just faulty but other chargers still overheat within a few minutes.

Your replacement battery circuit would be the problem. I assuming your phone is not expose to water or have any water damage on the board. Replace with a new battery to make sure and you use genuine samsung battery to avoid blowing it up.
