How do I fix the built in keyboard and trackpad from disconnecting?

As of two weeks ago my MacBook Pro stopped recognising my trackpad and keyboard. The issues started only after I did a software update. I managed to login using a bluetooth keyboard in order to reset the computer and revert to the version I was originally running.

It took a day to do this, and it seemed to work fine after that. However, the issue has resurfaced.

Depending on the angle I hold my MacBook the keyboard will work or not work. Is this a problem anyone else has encountered? Does it sound like a hardware problem? What should I do stop my keyboard and trackpad from disconnecting?

The keyboard & trackpad share the same cable connect to the logic board.

There are two possiblities: The battery is pressing on the cable as it’s failing and the cable it’s self got damaged from a bang on the bottom cover.

I would check the battery using CoconutBattery to see how many cycles it has (if you’re over 700 it’s time for a new battery).

Here’s the cable 821-00184-A trackpad cable for 13" A1502 2015 Retina Macbook Pro

Thank you Ben. That sounds like the issue. I just checked the cycles. If the problem persists, it may be that the trackpad cable needs replacing.
