Touch problems (certain keyboard keys not working)

I have an iPhone 5c that has had the screen replaced a number of times.

I now have a vertical line on the touch screen that is unresponsive.

When using the touch keyboard the n , j and u keys do not operate (these are all roughly in the same vertical area).

I have tried the same screen/digitiser on another phone and it works fine.

I have also tried a number of screens on the problem phone and always find the same area of the screen does not respond to touch.

I suspect one of the pins on the digitiser connector is damaged though I can't see any obvious damage.

Is there anything else that may cause this problem or will the logic board need to be repaired/replaced?

Gekozen oplossing

The only other place you could have damage is in the general area of the IC's responsible for touch on the back of the logic board. There could be a damaged solder ball under the IC which would cause a dead zone as the touch screen is essentially portioned out via an X,Y grid.

This would require a micro-soldering repair but depending on what an iPhone 5c is worth in your area, it's almost certainly not cost effective to do so. If you like the iPhone 5C, you can maybe buy a replacement logic board instead as that would be less expensive.
