Memory card slot not reading cards

Hi,

So slot A will not read any memory cards, Nintendo or 3rd party, but slot B is fine. Is there a quick fix for this or should I just be looking for bent connector pins and give them a clean?

The first thing to do is examine the pins and clean them with a burnishing tool if you can reach them. Start there and let us know the results.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the suggestion :) I've had a good look at the pins after taking the cube apart and they look fine, nothing out of place or bent out of shape. I'm going to try some cleaning fluid and see if that works, would you suggest adding the fluid directly to the pins or to a memory card first, then putting it in and out a few times?

Many thanks once again for your help

There has been a further development in my mini-saga. After putting my cube back together, I put a memory card back into the troubled slot A a bit too hard and it seemed to short out the cube. The screen went black, the power light went out, however, it sounded like it was still running. I turned off the power, took out the card and it switched back on fine, I put a card into slot B and it was read fine, then took it out, out it into A again, gently this time, and it shorted out again.
