Help! I think my logic board needs replacing. Power issue & backlight

I really have been struggling with trying to fix my MacBook Air 13 Early 2015 for almost 5 months.

It started off with me attempting to replace my battery. While my laptop was unscrewed and the backing was off, I dropped it (I know I know) and the battery connector popped off the logic board by the battery coming undone. So I had my dad re-solder the piece back on and connected a brand new battery.

Now, I have no backlight. I have to use a flashlight to even kind of see the screen or use an external monitor. When disconnecting the MagSafe power adapter, the laptop will automatically turn off. It won't stay on unless the adapter is connected. Which was the initial reason I tried to replace the battery AND now after several attempts my computer says there is no AirPort card so the WiFi doesn't work at all.

What I have tried so far is SMC reset but not much else. I was going to have Apple repair it but now that my dad has Soldered the battery I don't believe they would even attempt it.

My warranty has been expired for some time now. I believe maybe the logic board needs replacing but any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

It does sound like you have a couple of problems here.

The short path:

Of course the easiest way to fix this is just replace the logic board but depending on which one you get its about $400 to 600 so this not the cheapest way but likely the quicker way. Here’s the IFIXIT guide you’ll need to follow: MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Logic Board Replacement. IFIXIT appears to be out of stock so you’ll need to do some hunting. Keep in mind there are two versions of the two boards one with only 4 GB of RAM and the other with 8 GB.

The long path:

Clearly the displays backlight logic needs to be looked at it could as simple as a burnt fuse link:

Or, the backlight driver its self is blown which is part of the logic board.

You do have a bigger problem here as the power control logic which manages the MagSafe power to either run the system or charge the battery is having issues. This could be tied to the damage the fall created. Someone with deeper skills & tools as well as access to the needed parts will need to trace out the problem.
