Just install the ssd and reinstall windows. If you have windows 8 or windows 10 it will automatically activate if you install windows 10. If its a windows 7 key you can use that to activate windows 10 or just install windows 7 back on it.

Ok, the problem just got simpler. One choice would be to clone your old drive to the SSD, but from your comments, I'm guessing you don't want to do that. So, you will need to do a fresh install of Windows 10 on your new SSD. If you have installation media, that's easy. If not, use the Windows Creation Tool at this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help... to create a bootable USB or DVD for your installation. Your computer should be connected to the internet for the following

Install the SSD into your computer, then boot to your install media. If DVD, it should boot naturally there. If USB, you will need to select boot media thru BIOS selection or an F? key. Once booted to the Windows install media, just follow the directions. The system will restart a few times, but do not boot to the install media again. Let it boot to the new Windows install. If it asks to get new updates, let it do that.

When your install is complete, it will search for drivers. If you have them on DVD or USB, point the system there. If not, it will search for them on the web, but this takes longer.

When your install is complete, you will need to Activate the installation -- unless it has automatically activated during the process. Activation is not an issue. Microsoft uses a "hardware signature" to identify that you are reinstalling from a previous activation. The hard drive/ssd is not included in that signature, so it will immediately recognize your system.

That should be all it takes, but, if any further questions, post them here. Also, post to let us know that it worked.

Good luck,

Russ

Use the time to gather what you will need. If you don't already have the drivers, download them from the manufacturer's site and have them available during the install.

Don't use the Media Creation Tool to make new install media until you are ready to do the installation. That way you will have the latest version and will need fewer updates after installation.

Good luck,

That is a good video. If you look at the lower right corner of the screen at 8:21, you can see that something is hidden behind the captions. That is an option to "skip this step" (or similar language). Just skip that step and proceed. You do not need a serial key. Windows 10 will activate based on your hardware signature already recorded in the Microsoft servers. It may activate automatically, but, if not, it will remind you to activate later. It will be no problem.

I saw “skip this step” but if signature won’t work what ı can do ?

How much % to work signature ?

2nd question is ;

If I done usb stick setup iso , can ı unplug my hdd and put ssd ? or hdd and ssd must connected together ?

Because ı dont want reset hdd ı want few programs and photos there.

(My laptop had a 1 drive slot ı planıng to use caddy for ssd)

Thanks one again :)

Do a backup of your hard drive, then do a restore to the SSD. Now make sure that all works well on the computer with only the SSD installed.

Once you know that all is well, you can erase your documents from the SSD, and erase your programs from the hard drive. Finally, right click on your Documents folder and set the target to the new location; this will cause Windows and your programs to default to that new location.

Doing the above will move Windows and your programs to the SSD. If you want to move only Windows, you will need to reinstall Windows (to the SSD) and your programs (to the hard drive). I recommend that you keep Windows and your software on the same drive, and put only your data on the other drive.
