Backlight started flickering and later stopped working

Hi all

My macbook screen suddenly started flickering yesterday. It would flicker for some time, less than a minute, and then the screen would go totally black. At first, closing and reopening the lid fixed the issue for some seconds but the same thing would happen again. Now, even after closing and reopening the lid, the screen never turns on. I have to connect the mac to my TV via HDMI to work on it. I can see the screen images if I flash a light through the apple logo, that is why it is a backlight problem. I have recorded a video of the flickering. Have a look, and you will know the exact nature of the problem (This video). Kist before this happened, I put the computer on the sofa a little, but not too hard.

I realize that my question is very similiar to this one (MacBook Pro 2013 Backlight Flickering after drop!). But I want to make ultimately sure that I can fix it before I delve into the mac.

A thorough guide on helping me fix the issue or any other advice will be very much appreciated.
