Microphone cable is glued, can’t disconnect

I’m replacing my 13” 2010 MBP logic board. All is disconnected except the mic. Tutorials (eg, iFixit) say to to spudge or tweeze up the microphone plug. The plug came up but the cables are glued in/on. How can I disconnect it? Has anyone done this? I’d appreciate any advice.

The foam around the microphone often gets sticky acting like glue. You'll need to pry it out as well as the wires. If you damage it here's the part info:

  • Microphone Cable Apple P/N 922-9059

Thanks, Dan. Without schematic or experience, I can’t tell exactly what all I should remove. Can you clarify?

So it’s the cables/pins + glue blob I’m to tweeze up as one piece, leaving the round socket, yes? So to reinstall, I’ll snug the blob-and-plug back onto the socket?

Is this correct? I’m not understanding how the connection happens

Carefully pry the microphone as outlined in the IFIXIT guide. The round shell of the part rests in the hollow within the uppercase frame. There is foam between the mic and the case. Once you get the mic out you'll then be able to disconnect it from the logic board if its damaged.
