Upgrading the 1TB HDD to a 2TB or 3 TB HDD

I just found a great deal on a used Late 2013 iMac 27 inch but the original 1TB HDD internal drive isn't enough storage for me. I am looking to bump it to 2TB minimum but preferably 3TB. This is upgrading my 2010 iMac 21 inch which still works great for video editing.

I am seeing all of this information online about fusion drives and SSDs. Those are fantastic upgrades, but I don't feel $700 to upgrade to 2TB SDD on a $550 computer (did I mention I got a great deal on this iMac?!?!) is justifiable. I should have just bought a new iMac for that price.

Can someone help me out with a 2 or 3 TB part number for a HDD that will fit this iMac? Or are my only options an 1) external drive; 2) $700 SSD; 3) a fusion drive which I don't know anything about yet.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time.

First I would not recommend going with a Fusion Drive setup.

I would recommend going with a SSHD hybrid drive like Seagate FireCuda - 2 TB. You might want to think about also installing a Custom Apple blade SSD 512 GB.

Configure the SSD as your boot drive and have it hold your apps as well. Then use the SSHD for your data drive.

If you really need still more storage I would forgo the internal HDD and instead go with an external Thunderbolt2 RAID'ed drive for your data drive. You still will want the blade SSD upgrade.

In any case you'll need this sensor to replace the HD's sensor which is built-in when replacing the HD: OWC In-line Digital Thermal Sensor for Hard Drive Upgrade for 27" iMacs 2012 and Later

Thank you so much for the SWIFT reply Dan. Found the drive on Amazon for $72 plus another $40 for the sensor.
