Well no, the WiFi and GPS antenna are different.

YES the location tracking on an iPhone usually works using WiFi hotspots (accessing them to track your location).

But no it's a different component, if the GPS isn't working it's most likely something wrong with the location services, or the IC of the logicboard

(Murata 339S0228 Wi-Fi Module is on one side and Qualcomm QFE1100 Envelope Tracking IC, RF Micro Devices RF5159 Antenna Switch Module and Skyworks 77356-8 Mid Band PAD on other side of logicboard, see Demontage van de iPhone 6 for more info, btw in case you need to replace, see iPhone 6)

from my knowledge, it is the BT/WiFi that run off the same antenna.

GPS uses Wifi Signals to help Tune the signal into something more percise, but doesnt base its function out of the same chipset. which means if it is just strength issues, the antenna would be at fault, but if there is absolutely zero function, you are likely looking at a board level failure.

try replacing this compoenent, and if not, then board work may be needed.

What can be confusing is your phone uses two additional methods of triangulation: Celluar and WiF besides GPS/GLONASS satellites. Here's a bit more: GPS Navigation

The antennas are within the case its self (top & bottom isolated surfaces). The flex cable here is a signal guidefrom the logic to the cases connection point.

More likely, the GPS logic within the logic board has been damaged.
