White display - Which LVDS cable do I get?

Hello all!

Backstory: This all started with an LCD that was showing bands of color or white that would fade in and out.

I purchased a replacement LCD from ifixit, installed it, and now I get a pure white screen. All other functions seem to work (keys, volume control, brightness control, etc...).

The Problem: I read up on these forums and decided that my LVDS cable was probably bad. A visual inspection doesn't give away any definite damage, but it does seem generally worn out.

So I got an LVDS cable from an online site that I thought would match mine. The description was for a MacBook Pro 13" Unibody. But when I went to install it, I noticed that it was the wrong size.

The connector is too wide on both ends.

My Question: Does any one know what the varying size LVDS cables are and which one I would need for my model MacBook Pro?

My Info:

  • MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010
  • Model - A1278
  • LCD brand - LG
  • laptop serial (last 4) - WATM

Those links seem to be to the proper cables.

I wish there was a way for me to know for sure.

I've already bought one for $100 that turned out to be wrong.

Thank you for your answer.

Sorry, there is no part number. I would tell the seller exactly which machine you have before buying a second one.
