Is a loose home button after screen replacement "normal"?

I took my device to a third-party repair shop today and had the screen glass/digitizer assembly replaced. Afterwards, my home button was very wobbly and had lots of play. The store rep said this was "normal."

Am I crazy to think that it is possible to firmly reattach the home button after replacing the screen? I asked them to tighten things up but they refused, saying there was nothing they could do.

Properly securing the Home button bracket and insuring it isn't bent in such a way to leave extra space between the actuator and the bracket is an important part of the repair. Also replacing the Home Button gasket will insure the button doesn't flop around. Check out this repair guide to see how it is supposed to be like.

So yes, it is possible to do the job right but I suspect that the shop doesn't want to have to open up the iPad again.
