Why won't my phone turn on?

Last night I left my phone charging before I went to bed and I wake up trying to check my phone and it doesn't turn on! I tried holding the volume buttons and the power button so I could get into recovery mode and still nothing, But the phone can't be dead because when I plug in the charger the charging light turns on..Unless there's something wrong with the charger itself. I left it too charge for a full hour and it still won't turn on after I hold the power button for over 30 seconds, someone please help me! I just want my phone back.
