Hi @innie ,

Is the bell icon, highlighted in the image below, being displayed in the phone's screen?

Block Image

(click on image to enlarge for better viewing).

If so, press the Up arrow button , when in standby mode, to increase the ringer volume.

If it still doesn't work:

Can you make outgoing calls OK?

What does the caller hear when they call your number, ringing tone or something else?

What do you get when you call your own number from the phone ? You should get a busy signal, as you are calling yourself.

Hi @ Zoltan Cziraki,

What is the make and model number of the phone?

Have you checked that the phone is not in silent mode?

Is the phone's base station connected to a modem so the phone service is over an internet connection or is it connected directly to a telephone cable coming into the premises?

If connected to a modem

Can you connect a corded phone (or a known working portable phone and base station) into the modem's phone port (where the base station is connected to now) and check if it works OK i.e. o/g call OK and i/c calls the phone rings?

If a corded phone works OK then the problem is in the base station or the portable phone. You would need to have another portable phone that is compatible with the base station to prove whether the problem is in the base station or the portable phone

If a corded phone doesn't ring either then the problem is in the modem. Either it is not sending the ringing current to the phone or the modem’s phone settings may be not what is wanted - see example below.

Check the modem’s “phone settings” by accessing the modem’s UI (user Interface) from your computer or call your phone service provider.

An example of the settings in the modem that may affect incoming calls that can be User Defined could be that the phone number has been redirected to another number for incoming calls and that number is not answering.

Usually this can be set up in the modem’s phone settings under “call redirection”. Settings may include “redirection immediate” - the phone never rings here, after a “timed period of ringing” the phone rings here for a short while and if not answered the call is redirected or to a “recorded message” - call goes direct to voicemail etc. Obviously only the immediate redirection setting may be applicable in this case. It may depend on what the service provider offers as to what settings are there.

If connected to a phone line

Can you connect a corded phone (or a known working portable phone and base station) into the telephone line socket and check if it works OK i.e. o/g call OK and i/c calls the phone rings?

If a corded phone works OK then the problem is in the base station or the portable phone. You would need to have another portable phone that is compatible with the base station to prove whether the problem is in the base station or the portable phone
