I have a similar problem, I noticed it just recently. It gets stuck with (Android is starting) Optimizing app 1 of 1 for at least 10 minutes when I reboot my phone. but then all seems well. Any ideas for a fix?

door

Can confirm. Zedge is one of the culprits. Removed it (and only it) and reboot problem went away. Thanks!

door

Absolutely 100% worked for me too! No more Zedge.... No more problems! Thanks!!!?

door

where can I find this Zedge?

door

What is Zedge? Nothing I have tried seems to work. I can't even switch it off.

As another user said, the usual offender is Zedge. You can find out by uninstalling and reinstalling it. You'll notice it takes a LONG time to even initially install. That is the "optimizing." This is the same thing that happens at boot, except you can interact with your phone in this case. It's a shame, it's a decent app otherwise.

I don't have neither Zedge or true caller but still does it, any ideas?

I had 1 of 2 optimizing! One culprit is My fitness pal, deleted it, now its at 1 of 1. So now I have to find one more. Started deleting apps in groups of 5. Nothing yet.

POSTED: 5 DAYS AGO OPTIONS

Full load your phone. Turn off, disconnect from AC. Start and wait for the optimization process to come to an end. Check settings>battery for app using most battery. Deinstall that and reboot.

Update (06/03/2018)

Solution is from crackberry forum.

I found that the CBS Sports app was consuming most power. Uninstalled and the optimizing bug was gone!

uninstall the zedge app if you have it. I had the same problem and uninstalled one app at the time until unistalled zedge and no optimization any more. Reinstalled all other apps and phone boots up instantly.

My phone started optimizing app 1 of 1 a couple days ago and I thought I'd have to get a new phone but this fix worked for me. I uninstalled Zedge, cleared my cache and rebooted and no more optimizing. My phone boots up normally now. Great fix. Ty

I had also done other updates and thought it was Android System WebView as it started right after that had updated. Then I read it's Zedge and I've had that program for almost 2 years. I had restarted phone and was again stuck on "Optimizing", but for me each time it has been a good 20 minutes.

I uninstalled Zedge and it started right up, no Optimizing. Thanks for everyone who figured this out!

I have same issue, (my phone is lollipop 6.0) and "think" I traced it down to a caller ID app. Tried Truecaller first and Caller ID and Blocker second, both from google play store. Each one will run after setup, but when I restart the phone or start after a shutdown, I get the " app 1 of 1" message and it never does start up. Lots of trial & error (and loads of patience) will eventually find the culprit for you. I had to do a hard reset then load back all the settings, contacts, etc and started first with my added-on apps. I installed them one at a time, then restarted the phone. If it worked, I knew that app was ok. On to the second app, and so on. Hope you find the problem. It's really a PITA.

I too Faced optimizing app 1 of 1 problem , and finally able to solved it.

In my phone this was happening due to recent update of True caller app ,

I have done three forced factory reset. ( by pressing volume and Power button)

depending on phone some phone volume up + power and some phone Volume down+Power.

every time phone could boot normally as factory resett , but when i select restore app from google history it installed all app including true caller , and when phone get shut down i face again and again same issue.

thanks to a person who has commented in true caller app about this issue.

after that i did again forced reset , and did manual app installation to avoid auto true caller app installation.

now i have not installed this app ,, and my phone is working very much normal.

I uninstalled both true caller as well as zedge. I got relieved of the optimizing. Thanks a lot.

... Optimizing 1 of 2 apps... I drleted zedge, so now it's down to "1 of 1 apps". I deleted many of the others, and it fixed the problem completely. So.I reloaded a few and I'm back to "1 of 1"

Definitely was Zedge, but need to remove the others again and see what hits.

Since both Zedge & True Caller affect phone calls, I'm looking for that common factor.

Wish me luck.

If you can figure out what app is causing it you can use Advanced LogCat viewer on computer with USB debugging enabled on the phone to identify which app it is via the log output from the program.

It takes some time but you'll be able to find which one. Basically have it running with the device connected, reboot phone and reconnect cable when its on optimising apps. Keep checking logs for process errors or anything relevant.

Uninstall / reinstall / update that app and it will fix the problem.

I'll update post with more detailed steps when I have time.

This problem appeared when I switched my mobile on while it was charging. Took about 10mins to boot up with the message "Android is starting, optimizing app 1 of 1".

The only solution for me was to reset my mobile to factory default. Make sure you do a complete back up before resetting. If you cannot do a back up of your data you can still do a factory rest by pressing the UP volume button, Power button and the Home button at the same time - for Galaxy S7 Edge. However doing it this way will result in the loss of all your data.

99% sure it was Zedge app because update wouldn't finish loading either.

1% could have been True Caller app. Deleted that one too.

Strange because I've had Zedge for years on all phones. Still no problem on my old Samsung.

Maybe a conflict between the two apps somehow.

I'm not sure anyone else is still having this issue, but I had the same problem with the app Wordfeud. I figured since I didn't see that on the first 20 forum hits, I'd throw it out there by name.

I didn't do my due diligence on forums the first time and actually made a warranty claim on my LGV10. I only installed some core apps for the first few days and it was working great. The weekend hit; I installed some more fun, low priority apps, and back to 10+ minute boot screens. It's especially frustrating because one of the main reasons I stick with the V10 is the replacable battery, so every time I swapped it out I was waiting like a schmuck.

It took some trial and error, but Wordfeud was a culprit. Hello words with friends, or other scrabble game.

Later,

Anthony

I've found two culprit apps in this case one being zedge and the other is tubemate. Uninstall the one you have and booah you are good to go.

I have a Sony Xperia and have this problem with it coming up with 1 of 1 apps but I don't have any of the apps mentioned here. I do have: snapchat, instagram, Harry Potter, webtoon, WhatsApp, kerrang, AVG protection, play games, wattpad and three. These are all the apps I can uninstall.

I've also notice a 10256 taking the majority of my battery aswell as my phone heating up faster. I heard you could get rid of the 10256 by fully charging and rebooting without the charger on, but I don't wish to do that with how long it takes with the optimising 1of1.

Total surprise: try "restarting" your phone. Not "Power Off" and waiting.

Not "Airplane Mode."

I posted earlier, and yes, removing Zedge fixed partly. But I am older and back when we used paper clips to reboot our laptops, I was told "restarting" was not long enough and that we should turn off for a few minutes.

It may be coincidence, and something else (Update? Dropped the phone? Extraterrestial psychic hacking?) but after just Restart" it came right back on. I waited a while, restarted, and it worked again. Then the next day, I held my breath, crossed my fingers for luck, turned it completely off, waited 5 minutes, turned it back on, worked fine. WT

what you need to do is heat up the back cover and disconnect the battery and then reconnect it. Once you have done this clean the charging port with rubbing alcohol or nailpolish remover with a tooth brush and then leave it on charge without turing it on.

After 6 hours you can try to turn it on. If android still hasnt loaded it means your phones battery is knackered and it needs to be replaced.
