Can you put a regular home button on the iPhone 7 for broken Touch ID?

The iPhone 7 has a complete software based "home button". Is there a way to replace it with an actually button ( 6s, 6... etc)? Main question - Is it compatible? This might be a dumb question, just trying to be creative.

Hello

it's not possible. You would have to create one from the beginning and make it compatible with software and hardware.

You should be able to cheat the iPhone and it is too complicated.

If you want to repair it, take it to apple and do not say it opened. Another option is to wet it, Apple usually change them for another without looking much (at a price that is around 50% of the total value)

I do not know solutions to repair touch id on iphone 5s, I'm afraid we should wait a lot for a solution on iphone 7

edited: It is now possible to retrieve the home function with an aftermarket home button. This does not restore Touch ID

There’s a compatible IPhone 7 home button that give you the normal functionality without the Touch ID feature https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cmEjUqt...

Hello Jesse,

Apple pairs the home button’s TouchID to the motherboard so that won’t work after replacement, and as the iPhone 7 uses a capacitive sensitive home button and uses the vibrator for Taptic feedback (and isn’t an actual button), that also won’t work after replacement. However, there have now been multiple generations of home buttons available that bypasses this. The current ones don’t require Bluetooth or jumping pads, and will work like a normal home button straight away. However, TouchID will continue to be disabled due to pairing.

These home buttons can be found on eBay, JC and quite a few other suppliers. Make sure to get generation 3/4+ & doesn’t require Bluetooth or jumping pads.

hope this helps - I have never tried one so if you try this route let me know how it goes!

its possible that the u10 ic on the home button needs replaced, if you could find someone to replace it, if this solves the problem then you will still have touch id. unless the ribbon is damaged.
