all of the sensors just stopped working

Hi

All of the sensors just stopped working. Is that a hardware related issue?

if yes, wich hardware is the cause?

Happens after Oreo Update. Mother Board replacement is the advice by Samsung. If under warranty phone will be replaced by Samsung with a brand new unit.

Best way to verify this is to factory reset the phone.

I'm under the assumption that you are not able to utilize the touch screen, so attempting a back up won't work prior to erasing everything.

Give is a shot though, try to obtain all after plugging it to a computer. See if Samsung Smart Switch will allow you to download all the content.

Hey dude thanks for your answer. Factory Reset did not solve! i can use the touch screen, but all the sensors stopped working even fail in sensor hub test (*#0*#)

can this be a frimware related issue?

Updating the phone would do the firmware and software to override any issues there. When you refer to sensors, what exact sensors are you referring to?

Hi All, i have daced the same issue - in my phone all sensors stopped working escept fingerprint. Samsung is not serius and not going in for investigation and says you have purchased this phone with service warranty only. My phone started misbehaving exactly on 1 Jan. Initially proximity sensor didnot worked, i thought might be the issue of software or some king of lag - did reboot but still same. After that i recognize all sensors have been unresponsive except Fingerprint sensor. Now samsung is replacing motherboard and all sensors and will get phone back today. Will update how it is working. Is anyone faced same issue?

I have already tried Factory reset and even hard reset from android boot menu but still all sensors were not working. Fianlly have to visit Service center and asked for diagnosis. They said motherboard and sensor plate has some issue and needs repalcement. I really don’t understand how can all sensors become faulty on a same day. Even HEart sensor which is independent of all sensors is not working. Very strange and samsung looks like very lousy in India to take care of this issue and only offering spare part repair and not a phone repalcement. Please share if anyone has experienced same issue.

Warranty replacement is different depending on where you purchased the phone and how long you've had it. Most places have at least 1 year warranty unless the unit has flaws (i.e. damages - dents and cracks).

As for all the sensors going out, the motherboard, which controls a good portion of the phone, will most likely stop a lot of things from working properly. Ideally, corrosion could do the same thing to a unit if the unit got wet. I'm going to assume it has never been dropped in water.

I'm quite curious to know what diagnostics they ran. I'm not familiar with any tool Samsung uses to test their units. Only Apple has something that does that. Then again, I could be wrong.

I have the same issue with my note8 after 3 months usage.

First seller claimed it misuse and now sent to Samsung itself for repairs as phone has never fall down nor has phone suffer the least damage. Every precaution has been taken since usage and phone is as newly bought.

Now seller sent phone to Samsung technician and awaiting feedback.

Very disappointed.

I bought brand new note 8 20 days ago and got this problem today, im very much disappointed. All sensors suddenly stopped working while I was watching YouTube videos mobile suddenly got stuck, then i restart it and discovered No iris scanner no display brightness control bar is working, No proximity sensor, No light Sensor, every sensor stopped working except fingerprint reader. This is the first time happens for me on the such brand new phone opened box 20 days ago. Im very much disappointed. If any one have any solution for this and exactly info why and where the problem is causing. Share with me.

I faced the same issue too. This problem just happened a couple days ago where I realized that all of the sensors are not working at all. I search for the solution and none of them solve the problem. Is it because of the software update? Because i never drop my phone before at all since i bought it 3 months ago.

Hi,all im also facing the same problem.i just watched you tube and went to sleep late at night,after waking next day i tried to open my phone with iris scanner as usual,but suddenly phone says iris scanner is not responding,so I restarted the phone and cheacked again,it didn't work,so i rested the phone through the code *#0*#,I just got shocked all the sensors not working,i cannot believe,i just hard resetted the phone and flashed the official software again from sammobile also,but didn't worked,this must be a factory fault of note 8.im a mobile R&D engineer in a Chinese company,so i guess it must be a Samsung official fault..

Just gave it to them and they are analysing,they must replace the unit,its a factory fault,once i get the feedback from them ill let you know all,and if they cannot ill reassemble it and let you guys know the problem...

It should be a hardware problem,if not the sensor test shuold work on this cod *#0*#,if its not working you can cheack it through Samsung member official application given by Samsung to diagnose the faults, cheack and let us know.....

I just sent my phone to the samsung centre and they fixed it within a day. My phone is working as usual back. You guys just need to send it to the centre and they'll fix it. Its under warranty cover.

Hi,

Gave the note 8 to Samsung service center to Airlink warranty claim , they fixed my device in 1 day , and got the device back right now in my hand . Device seems to be not opened, means I think it was software crack somewhere. Because my device have itnstalled 360 glass protector and it didn't removed or seems to be re applied, it means device didn't opened in Samsung services center, they fixed it through software I believe. Thank God mine is get fixed without any major issue . If you guys have Samsung warranty then you should go to service center ... If any one didn't have Samsung warranty and facing this type of problem.... better install factory stock firmware in it .. thank you and Good Luck

Hi guys. I also having same problem after new firmware update but after i try using proximity sensor reset/repair by mobile direction the problem solve. All sensor running normal. You guys should try it.

Hi, guys, thanks for all the information. I have just gone mine fixed and they said is the defect of the motherboard that causes the problem. Therefore, the easiest way is to visit the service center and get it repair asap.

This issues has been many, same with another device Galaxy Note FE, S9 & S9+ most issues come after updating to Oreo, i have same problem too, i has try searching and trying any sollution on the web, nothing all can't solved, last day so i visit to service center and CS has told me it's 100% hardware issues, i have wait for 2 hour's and done, cos my device under warranty samsung has replace board with new one free of charge.

same with my samsung note fe...all the sensor is not working after update to oreo...samsung should to tell all thier customer that update to oreo can cause damage all the sensor...any solution how to solve this issued without tear my device for checking and replacing part by the samsung centre? coz im worry my device is lossing ability to waterproft.

Samsung has sent an advisory to replace motherboard of Note 8 to its service centers. It seems Note 8 has a manufacturing defect.

I bought note 8 around 10/10/2018, but afterwards all sensors stopped working after software update. It's the fault of samsung and I'm suffering ,such poor service.
