How to know which piece I need to change?

Good afternoon,

I faced an issue yesterday night with my macbook pro.

I reinstalled the all OS (lion 10,7) and since that moment I do not have wifi anymore. Not even the icon appearing in the top corner close to the clock.

I was wondering How can I be sure which piece needs to be replace. The airport card or the antena ?

My bluetooth is working well.

In the info system, my wifi card information shows nothing...

I was even wondering if the bluetooth and the wifi are the same card ?

I tried already PRAM and so on but nothing helped to get my wifi back.

If someone can helpme, I will be grateful

In advance thank you

@ozstrik3r69510 - Sadly, this is a harder system to fix as the AirPort card is located in the Clutch cover, review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 AirPort Card Replacement. The antenna's are both part of the lid assembly next to the AirPort board.

I would suspect the cable leading to the lid got damaged Vs the AirPort or antenna's.

Thank you for the answer. I saw the turo and it will not be a problem to change myself the card or the cable. But what I was looking is how to be sure that I need to buy a airport card or a cable or an antenna ?

I will buy the piece and change it but I want to buy the right one.

As I said, my bluetooth is working, is that can help me to know which piece is not working properly ?

Is the airport card is also the bluetooth ?

Is if the cable was damage, the bluetooth works ?

Waiting for feedback

Regards

@ozstrik3r69510 - I would bet it's the logic board to Airport board cable thats damaged then the AirPort board. The antenna unit would be way out there of possible issues.

If it was all working before the OS installation and stopped working after the OS installation, the odds of it being a hardware issue are pretty slim.

Boot from the OS installation disc (or USB drive) and see if wifi becomes available. If so, you probably have a bad OS installation.

Do a clean installation for best results. You may also want to consider upgrading your OS, your MacBook Pro will run up to El Capitan.

In case it is a hardware issue, how can i figure out if it is the antenna or the airport card ?

My bluetooth is working. Is that can help me to find the "culprit" ?
