Phone calls are laggy, phone rings, but no sound transfer either way

I have a customers iPhone 6 Plus. The device works perfect on the internet, sends text messages via regular text and iMessage.

Sound plays find on speaker, siri works fine.

But when I try a test call or any call at all the phone is very laggy after I hit the call button, or when I answer an incoming call.

When it is connected it doesn't transfer sound from either direction, Microphone / Speaker / Speakerphone do not seem to function, even though these individual parts are fine and working.

I tried software reset to full restore without going back to backup.

Not sure what else I can try, the phone is getting service so it's not an antenna issue, seems to be a software issue but after restoring the device via iTunes w/ new download it didn't resolve any issues.

This is a belated answer so hopefully it can be of use to folks who search for and find this question.

The iPhone 6 Plus suffers from some serious micro-flexing issues due to the large and weak housing design. There are two typical fault lines in the device. The first being at the level of the Touch IC's and the other at the Baseband CPU level. History has shown that these two IC's have multiple issues with broken traces, pads and solder balls. It's interesting to note that the Audio Codec IC, responsible for managing all of the audio inputs and outputs, is also directly on the fault line, being (almost) next to the Meson Touch IC.

Therefore, it is very likely that there is something at the logic board level with either the Audio Codec or Baseband IC (maybe both). This would require a micro-soldering repair.
