How to repair an Anki car that won't allow a firmware upgrade

I have an old Anki Drive car (which I bought used) and which is not allowing a firmware upgrade. Anki no longer make or sell this car, and they do not do repairs. Does anyone know if there is a way to repair this? I have spare cars from which I could get spare chassis parts but how would I then tell the new chassis that it is a Spektrix and not the chassis I swap in?

Hey there, I know this is a pretty ancient post, I was just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this. I just got a free Anki Overdrive set and I'm having this exact problem with the firmware update starting and then stopping almost immediately. I read that it could be the batteries, so I ordered new ones from Amazon that others said worked, but I'm not having any luck. I'm hoping you figured it out and could pass on how, assuming you still remember.

i have the same problem. replaced batteries on 4 cars, one of them is now stuck in the firmware loop (using the ddl app 2.6). tired soldering in different batteries, but no luck. i read somewhere in reddit that the firmware loop could be the wheel sensors are not aligned, but that doesn't appear to be the issue.

anki overdrive is a great racing set. i haven't seen anything like it even to this day.

wish ddl wasn't the owner of the IP (the ceo appears to have lied and is shady). if the app was open source others could potentially try to fix and improve things.
