iPhone 6 water damaged, new battery, and still won't turn on.

Calling on the wisdom of the iFixit Community,

I have an iPhone 6 that was dripped on, it turned on and then no longer did ( I didn't this..the owner of said phone did. I know better than to turn on a water logged phone before drying it out). It was put in rice for a couple days, I pulled the logic board, and put it back and replaced the battery. Still won't turn on. In fact there is no indication that it's charging.

Any ideas? Or is this officially "dead in the water" as it were. If it is, anyone have any ideas for data recovery?

Try the following:

Open your phone and remove the logic board (follow this guide)
Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, 80% of the board is covered in shields. That's usually where the damage is occurring.
Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
Let it air dry for a day.
Re-assemble and hope for the best.

You should also replace the battery if it has swollen. Resist the temptation to pop it to let the gas out. A compromised Li-ion battery is a fire hazard. If the device appears to power up but behaves erratically, then use a tool like 3uTools to flash the firmware as it may be corrupted.

A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone or the data because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board. Many shops have a no fix/no fee policy so you don't have to spend money to find out if the phone is fixable or not.

Thanks, but I have already pulled the logic board and put a new battery in it. So I guess, my main concern is recovering photos in the very least.

Did you clean the logic board? Just "pulling" it doesn't convey that it was properly cleaned. You can't start fixing the board until you've properly cleaned it. If you're comfortable doing board-level repairs, let me know and I'll give you some ideas to start with.

I there, sorry for the ambiguity. I mean, I pulled it out, cleaned it and put it back. There seemed to be no corrosion on it but rather the corrosion seemed to be focused around the battery. The little white indicator strips are pink around the battery area, which made be suspect it was the battery.

Could I have not seated a connection properly? What do you think?

When I opened it the first time, the "ribbon" (for the lack of a better word) on the connectors for I believe the screen, etc were brittle and came apart. So could that be my problem? I tried fixing it with electrical tape, but could it be that the connection is still loose, hence no indicator it's charging and it not turning on?

So here's the thing...if you don't remove the shields when you clean the board, you are cleaning less than half of the board. All the important bits, specifically the charging circuit, is on the backside of the logic board below the lower shield. Usually the corrosion is happening where you can't see it so don't rely solely on visual clues.

Now, in your case, I am concerned about your comment that the screen connectors and flex (ribbon) were brittle. What exactly does it look like (you can add a picture to your original question, that would help a lot)? Generally speaking, electrical tape doesn't cut it for fixing iPhones :>).
