Top Case Replacement for A1502 using A1493 Case?

Does anyone know if the MacBook Pro 13 Late 2013 (A1493) Top Case is compatible for the MacBook Pro 13 Mid 2014 (A1502) hardware.

I have come across sites that say they are compatible. However, I see the trackpad trimming for the A1493 is different from the A1502. Also, they are using different cables to attach the trackpad to the Logic Board. I am unsure if the cable will become damaged from the weird trim from the A1493 Top Case.

Update (10/04/2017)

The A1502 uses a different type of connector for the trackpad from what I am seeing. As opposed to the A1493, it is using a slot for the connection. From what i researched, they were considered the same top case.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'trimming' I don't see any difference between these two cases. the Trackpad cable is routed underneath the battery in both. Are you confusing the 15" model which has the cable going over the battery? As seen here" Trackpad cable over battery

Both are A1502 models, 1st one is A1502 2015 (EMC 2835), 2nd is an A1502 2013/2014; A1493 is the battery model number, not the MacBook model number.

These 2 are not cross compatible, they use different trackpads.

@krypticcliff Cliff I've updated your post with your images and added the model years. See below for the full explanation.

Cliff - I see where you took a left turn! You have a 2015 model not a 2014!

So in this case you are correct the upper cases are different and require a different trackpad & cable. The 2015 has the cable going over the top of the battery Vs going under it (from the bottom cover viewpoint).

They are different parts! 2013/14 Vs 2015

That explains everything... Thanks for the clarification. Note to self: Don't rely on the model number. Just go by the serial.

Out of curiosity, would switching the A1502 Trackpad over to the other device cause an issue?

They are very different

@krypticcliff screw holes in casing is different so no (2015 has holes all around the trackpad; 2013/2014 has 12 at the top)

Late 2013-2014 palmrest (uppercase) are compatible with each other, no difference.

A1493 is the battery model number, as long as you have an A1502 2014 (not 2015), and are trying to fit an A1502 2013 palmrest assembly, it will work fine.
