iPad can not boot, unlimited restart when connecting the charger

This is an iPad Air 2, bought 2 years ago. The system is iOS9.x, had jailbreak, the use has been normal.

There are about half a year, I did not charge and use the iPad.

Now iPad can not boot, I try to solve it, summarized as follows:

      1. Long press the power button, iPad does not respond, can not boot, guess is the power exhausted.

      2. Found the iPhone 1A charger, connect iPad, iPad without any response, the screen is still black, no low battery reminders, for half an hour after still no response.

      3. finally found iPad 2.1A charger, connect iPad, very lucky, iPad has a reaction. The screen is lit, you can see the Apple logo appears, after 2-3 seconds, the screen completely extinguished, and then re-lit Apple logo, repeated ... ...

      4. try to connect to the Mac, iPad is no response, can not boot.

      5. When I connect iPad and iPad (2.1A) charger, you can enter the DFU mode, but disconnect the charger, iPad quickly turn off the power, the screen becomes black.

Excuse me, how do I fix this problem? Very thanks.

Whenever a device is left unused for that long, the battery severely discharges or even goes dead completely.

Try using the 2.1A charger and leaving it plugged in for at least a day. Apple devices boot by themselves when they get enough charge but you can still try a reset using the power button and the home button at the same time for up to 20 seconds.

If that doesn't work, you likely need a battery replacement.

The iPad is trying to start up the second it has a bit of power, and then extinguishing it and keeps repeating that in circles. Try this to see if you can get it to stop turning itself on-

Plug into wall, wait until the apple logo appears. Quickly hold down home button and power button at the same time until it reboots. Release buttons, it should power down and reboot again.

Repeat this at least 30 to 40 times, every time the apple logo appears. Now Let iPad boot up fully, should see home screen with about 2% battery life. Hold the power button and shut off iPad. Let it charge for at least 3 hours before turning it on, and then power down again and let charge for around 8 hours, or overnight.

Hopefully this helps you, it worked for me.

Rocklle, thank you very much for your reply. I tried about 70-80 times according to your method. Unfortunately, iPad still can not boot properly.

But still very grateful to you.

I know this is a bit old but for anyone who still has this problem, there is an easy fix that will require time. If your Ipad is pretty much at 0% and every time you charge it, it attempts to turn on but uses up its power in the process, your best solution is to leave it charge for about a day or 2 (mine was a day). It will eventually gain enough battery to keep itself alive, once you see it turn on, turn it off as soon as you can so it can charge with a bit more ease. Also, please do not unplug the charger for the entire 1-2 days, not even to just move to a different socket as it would usually just restart the process.

Thanks, Jason.

A long time ago, I took my iPad to the local private repair shop in China.

After removing the iPad's screen and using an infrared detector found that there's a tiny resistor on the motherboard generated a lot of heat.

The experienced repairman told me that the resistance was damaged, but removing it did not affect the iPad starting. And the battery is not damaged.

Indeed, when he removed the hot resistor, the iPad turned on and everything returned to normal.

I paid 200 RMB, and the iPad worked pretty well for the next few years.
