Hakko product for microsoldering.

I'm having a really hard time choosing between Hakko FX888D, FX950 or FX951 which one I should get for micro soldering of Apple Products? Specifically iPhones and iPads, really appreciate any help!

It's also according to where you live. Then if it's it for an occasional repair or you're doing it 8 hours a day. This one from iFixit is the same:

Soldering Station Hakko FX888D-23BY

Then these:

@jeanbezzina that would be a great question you want to ask the "pro's" who reside on here. Most of the people on Answers (the forum right here)are mere volunteers that offer some assistance on how to repair devices.

@oldturkey03 @kaykay I have never participated in the Pro site because all I get when I've tried to log in is this blank page that says I don't exist and I feel I've gripped about enough on this site:

@mayer trust me, you are not missing much at all. Really not my place to hang out.

Obviously, this really depends on your budget, and as @mayer said, how much you will use it. IMO, the FX-951 is a better option than the FX-888D because it uses the T15 range of tips and it can also support the micro pencil. That way, if you upgrade to the much better FM-203, then your tips and handles will migrate seamlessly.

If you are already anticipating going big time, then the FM-203 is an excellent station and it allows you to use the micro-tweezers. I love the micro-tweezers! There are even better stations from JBC (nano-tweezers) but those are even more expensive.

If your looking for a good quality hot air station, I would opt for the Quick 861DW.

Im not going to spend 600eu on my first station, I want something that works well but at an affordable price, if I see that im doing well then I will opt for the FM-203

I never said to spend 600 euros, read my answer again. I told you the 951 was the better option and these were the stations you suggested yourself.

As @jessa has mentioned, these stations (FX-951 / FM-20X) are the budget stations. You can buy less expensive (read "cheap") stations, like Aoyue & Atten but these are not suitable for iDevice micro-soldering.

Also, be wary of cheap Chinese knock-off versions of the Hakko. They are poor quality and often times the mains wiring is incorrectly wired and can pose a lethal threat to your safety.

None of those.

Budget friendly for micro soldering starters

door

Budget friendly means take your pick--the cost of ruined boards due to low quality equipment, or better equipment and less ruined boards. The equipment we recommend IS the budget equipment---this is not 10k-100k stations that would be used in a research or manufacturing lab. These are stations that get the job done in the <1k-2k range.

I just received today the FM-202 I ordered today. Looking forward to perfect (suitable really) soldering smaller components with a better temperature controlled iron also.
