Power Not being transferred to iBook, what should I do next?

I have a ibookG4 1.42ghz. My husband recently spilled coffee on the table where it sat and some got into the port where the power plug connects. I unplugged and dried it off, but plugged it back in too soon, I think. The ibookG4 stopped charging. We knew the battery was not very strong, so we replaced it as well as the power cord. The new power cord does not light up at all either. The battery will not charge and the new battery (which started at 58% is now at 42%, from starting attempts.) I then replaced the DC-in board. My husband later tested the old DC-in board after removing it, with a volt meter while it was plugged in to the power cord. It lights orange. I am looking for my next step and hoping it is not the logic board. Any suggestions?

Assuming you have a bad logic board (I would try disassembly and cleaning before writing it off) I would recommend buying an external case for your hard drive. Link provided for a sample. I indicate a firewire drive to allow you to boot from it. This will allow you to access the data and to use the drive as a backup should you decide to use a larger drive in your repaired computer. Hope this helps.

its likely the logic board since you've already replaced the dc jack and power cord.

Thanks for all the advice. I am not sure what you mean rj713 by booting it from the firewire. can you help me with that? My problem now is, I purchased the external hardrive and my battery died from trying to work on it. Because the battery is not charging, plugging it in is making no difference as well. Is my only option at this point taking it to an apple store to see if they can put my battery in another ibook to charge it? Any help is appreciated.

Hello Tyler--I am including a link on how to boot using firewire. As a G4 machine yours will only boot from firewire==not USB.
