What does this wiring schematic symbol mean?

I have been working on a vintage Marantz receiver (2330B) for some time as a side project to enjoy. Because of the condition of the receiver and to fully use it as a side project, I am rewiring all connections. After looking through the wiring schematic one thing keeps coming up that I am not familiar with. There are frequently wires that end connections with loops around multiple other wires. From my research the explanation for it is the shielding of the wire, but that wouldn't really make sense because the ends of wires show the symbol around other wires, as if representing a connection. So far, my theory is that it means the wire is connected to bother wire connections it is looped around, but the looped connections are not connected to each other.

Here is an example of that:

You were right the first time, it is a symbol for shield on a cable of wires. In the larger picture there are a couple of wires with the loop and the loop connects to a common point between the other two wires. If you open the cover and trace the wires you will probably see that the 2 or more are in a shield and the shield connects to ground.
