Replaced top case to fix keyboard, but now keyboard is only typamatic
I have along history with computer hardware repairs, just not the MacBook. My wife's MacBook Pro 13" Retina late 2012, model A1425 had a dead, worn out key, a corner ding, and a dying battery. I ordered a top case assembly with the keyboard and battery in place, and got a lovely looking assembly.
I spent the three hours following ifixit's detailed instructions for replacing a top case, and had no real problems with the process.
However, upon reassembly, the machine boots and looks OK, but I can't even enter the password because the keyboard will not insert single letters - only half a dozen or so if you leave a key down until typamatic repeats start. ER, I think. I really can't see the characters being entered, only the dots for the password.
So did I get a good-looking top case assembly but with a bum keyboard, or is this a cabling/connector issue? I re-seated the keyboard cable twice on that theory, but it acts the same.
What should I look at next?
