iPhone 6 Plus bootloop after water damage

Hello,

I just got a iPhone 6 Plus from a customer. The phone was dropped in a coffee cup and would not power on at all when they brought it to me.

I desoldered the two shields near the bottom of the motherboard (the liquid didn't get past the bottom of the motherboard, all the upper part of the board has no trace of liquid spill) and no oxydation was found under the shields. There was some on the charging port connector which I cleaned.

I plugged the motherboard on a new battery and charging port and plugged a lightning cable and the phone is doing bootloops.

Do you have any clue what could be causing this problem?

Probably liquid damage under the U2 Tristar Charging IC BGA Chip solder balls, you would need to probably replace the chip (reflow might work but not recommended).

Hi,

Have you cleaned up the entire board with an ultrasonic cleaner?

Also, try a restore via DFU mode, iOS may have corrupted, I cleaned up a iPhone 5 from

Liquid damage the other week which had corrosion only near the battery connector that was boot looping, restore sorted it.

If not, you'll have to take a look further at the logic board.
