Monitor does not show any inputs, power light flashes.

I purchased a Dell S2240Lc Monitor and now when it is connected the white power light flashes slow and steady but no image appears. I can't even get an image on the screen to attempt the self diagnostic. Any ideas of what I can do to fix it?

Also I don't seem to have a service tag on the monitor, just a model number and S/N.
