Continuous vibrate in sleep mode

Setting the slide switch to the sleep setting causes the vibrator to run continuously. Has anyone else seen this issue, or have a solution?

Wait, the silent switch, on the side of the phone?

door

Yes, sorry, the silent switch. Very strange.

Thanks, good idea. I also thought to try setting it to silent mode through the Accessibility controls to see if it's a software or hardware issue.

Thanks for the suggestion.

It sounds more software. I would try the settings like you said, if that doesn't take, do a force restart, if that doesn't take, back it up, put it into dfu, restore. If all of that doesn't take, then we go for surgery. As replacing this cable is the most complicated repair on any iPhone, we'll try that last

Also, I realize this sounds ridiculous, check and make sure there isn't an S on the back, with a box around it. It makes a big difference. Practically all my customers don't know this, and don't understand why the repair cost is higher

The forced restart (holding down Power + Home button until Apple logo appears) did the trick. Hardware issues didn't really make sense as there was no history of drops, damage, etc. The phone was in excellent condition, and ws just recently factory reset and finished with a back/restore. I didn't have the phone in my possession, so had to wait for the user to try the reset and reply.

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

Could be a faulty mute switch, i'd try disconnecting the old one and plugging in a new one (just lay it on top of the battery), remember to disconnect the battery before unplugging and components. Power on the phone and see if the fault clears.
