You can purchase a used 8GB logic board with a 1 year warranty for this machine here:

http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Ai...

For $318.00, He could then sell the 4GB board on eBay for a $200 or more , How exactly is this a BS answer? It's took more effort than just saying NO you can't do this, furthermore Ebay is not the only place to source parts, in fact Ebay is ALWAYS a last resort for me. Not sure where the attitude is coming from. He ends up with the result he wants and becomes familiar with how to replace a logic board and on only costs around $100, Sounds like the correct answer to me...

hi My machine is mid 2012 and comes with Icore5 not 7

will this be a problem ? how I can sell mine with 200$ , are buyer always avlilable ? what the fastest way to sell it ?

Yes. I did this on 2012 13" air. The ram is 'upgradeable` by way of Logic board replacement, not by soldering. Sourcing & re-selling parts is not a tech spec discussion topic.

You could purchase an 8Gb board for $300ish, then sell the 4Gb board for $250ish.

hi, I'm down for this, I want to sell my current board even for 100-150 $ but fast , where I can sell it ? is the 8g Ram included or i have to buy separately ?

No, the RAM is soldered in, so while it is theoretically possible to re-solder larger RAM modules, it isn't at all practical, no repair shop will do it, it will cost a lot of money. If you need more RAM then it is probably best to sell your laptop and buy another used one with 8GB of RAM.

Sam - Please don't throw your theories in on an otherwise correct answer. It clouds the issue.

Standard RAM: 4 GB Maximum RAM: 8 GB*

Details: *4 GB of RAM is onboard. It could be upgraded at the original time of purchase to 8 GB as a US$100 option, but it cannot be upgraded later.

The recommendation that you could have more RAM soldered is Not Practical whatsoever and you'll never find anyone that can do it it's virtually impossible.

Apple won't add any more after the fact you simply have to replace the logic board with one that has 8 gigs of RAM pre-installed at the factory so no you can't have it Saturday in or find anyone that would even know how to do it there's far more to it than it sounds it's not just simple soldering and very likely will damage the logic board anyway even trying.

So don't just buy a new board and sell the old one and have the new one installed by someone who knows how it's not that hard and I fix it even has a how to on it and you can literally swap the boards in about a half an hour if you've done one before so it's not that hard of a job.

Yes the memory can be updated. The issue is that the process is not for the inexperienced or faint of heart. You can find detailed instructions on Youtube, but to find someone willing to do it for a reasonable price maybe a challenge.
