Keys not working after keyboard replacement

After a liquid spill the keys 7, u, j n and m stopped working. I replaced the keyboard after everything was dried and the same keys still don't work.

If I plug in an external USB keyboard all keys work as normal. (no I didn't put the faulty keyboard back in!)

Could something on the keyboard connector have shorted? Is that even possible?

If the same keys are not working, I would check the keyboard connector pins and continuity from each one to the keyboard IC (use schematic and boardview for this). Usually this happens if the keyboard connector pins get liquid damage and burn/corrode. If it's not getting continuity to the chip, you will need to run wires from the chip to the keyboard connector.

The keyboard IC and each connector pin control one diagonal row of keys (with exception of special keys), so it is likely one pin causing the problem.

EDIT: Requires soldering if the above is the case, do it yourself if you have the tools and experience, send it somewhere if not.
