If your web pages are loading slow, it may be you internet. Go to speedtest.net to test it. 100+ is fast, 50-100 is good, 20-50 is decent, 10-20 works, 10- is slowwwww.

Another problem is that your PC is in need of a factory reset. Copy any inportant folders and photos to a thumb drive, then go to control panel>backup and restore. Warning: a factory reset will completely reset your PC, like it came from the factory. It will delete everything, so move any important files to a thumb drive or something else. Hope this helps!

As for replacing the RAM, please tell me how you like the guide as I made it myself

Windows 7 systems can slow down and need some care and feeding to regain their former glory. Further, some Windows 7 features can be leveraged to improve overall system performance. You can take to boost the performance of your Windows 7 systems by these steps.

1: Disable unnecessary services

2: Reduce the number of startup items

3: Remove the bloatware installed by vendors

4: Keep viruses and spyware off your system

5: Check your memory

6: Ensure that power settings favor performance

7: Keep your system defragmented

8: Disable or tune search indexing

Hi @kizmit ,

To add to Raichel's good answer, how much RAM have you got installed at the moment?

2GB RAM is the most that you can install and will certainly go a long way to improve performance if you only have 1GB installed at the moment.

What is the exact model number of the laptop. It should be printed on the label at the back of the laptop. The model number should begin with VGN.

The reason I ask is although 2 GB is the maximum RAM for all variations within the model number range that you quoted, some laptops only support RAM of a lower frequency e.g. pc2-4200 in lieu pc2-5300. So to get the most out of your particular model it is important to insert the correct ones.

If you already have the correct ones then here is a link to the user manual for one model in the range, scroll to p.151 to view the procedure to replace the RAM modules. It is the same procedure for all the models in the PGC-7V2L range

Open task manager by pressing ctrl+alt+delete - click Task Manager. Once it opens, click CPU and see what is using the most CPU resources. Do the same for RAM. if theres any applications using a large amount of these resources stop it (if you know what it is)

To install RAM - Search for the motherboard manual and follow the instructions (telling you how would probs not be very helpful) (im sure someone else will post how)

best of luck,

Eric
