Have you spoken with Apple at all? When pressed they have been replacing the full keyboard to the 3rd gen. butterfly used in the '17 model, as many people have had issues with the '16 models. While not cheap out of warranty it still may make sense.

Yes, please look here. This website both sells the individual keys and a video on repair.

There is no video for this particular model on the website.

@coreyhudson it is probably possible, since the layout is similar to the 12", but you will have a hard time finding the keys at the moment. New keyboards are not being sold yet, so there are no key caps in circulation yet (a lot of key caps for older models are cleaned and removed from liquid damaged non-working keyboards).

LCD panels have only just become available in the past month for this model, so it will probably take another month or 2 before we start seeing keyboards and key caps.

@coreyhudson,

Second to the last is a general for all retina models.

door

@avanteguarde Yes but this laptop uses a completely different key mechanism than the previous Retina models so therefore that video does not teach anything.

door

@avanteguarde @coreyhudson is correct, 12" models onwards use a different mechanism, completely different to remove the keys.

Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b-8xqB0... for the 12" model. The 12" and newer models use the same butterfly mechanism, although the dome is different and the layout of the mechanism may be slightly different (although it is near enough the same to use as a reference). It's very easy to damage the dome under the key on the 12" model, and it is very fiddly, so be careful.

Hey @reecee that link seems broken, do u know if there is any video that shows how to replace the rubber cup ? I’ve got the cup, butterfly and key that I bought from replacelaptopkey.com, i was able to replace it but it doesn’t feel ok when pressing the key, I suspect I did something wrong but i couldn’t find any tutorial that shows how to do it right. Thanks

Update: I’m dealing with a late 2016/touchbar model (first gen)
