2 Why can't I see any content on my screen?
The thinkpad is powered on and working correctly but the actual content on the screen isn't visible.

Not seeing anything on your screen can be due to many issues. The first issue can be that your backlight is to dim. In order to check this Press F6 to increase brightness and F5 to decrease brightness. If this doesn't do anything try charging your laptop or replacing the battery.
