My iMac wont turn on

Hi,

I have a Imac 21.5 mid 2010. After i changed the HD for SSD It does not turn on. I put back the original HD, but the problem persisted. The 3 lights at logic board turn on, coolers turn on, i can hear a click in HD. However, the imac still present a black screen. Any idea what could be?

Thanks,

Leo Rocha

Hey Leo!

Do you per chance know the model number of your iMac? Do you know if it has the i5 processor or the i3 processor? In any case, it likely will not matter.

The fact that things are starting to boot up but your screen is completely black makes me thing you may have a display cable that is still disconnected. This can easily happen, and is luckily an easy fix!

You will just need to pop off the display again (this isn't that easy, but you've already done it once before!), and check the connections of the display cables. Here is a guide that will help you know exactly which cables to look at: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2389 Hard Drive Replacement

Look at steps 5,6, and 7

Let us know if this fixes it! If not we can continue to troubleshoot!

Best of luck.

Hmm so you have checked the display cables, they are connected but you still are having no luck? Did you also check the hard drive cables? It is also worth carefully checking the display connectors to see if there are any clear physical problems. Did they potentially get damaged in the repair?
